We are immediately seeking employees to join our Butchery team in Sidney, Iowa.
Our Butchery offers a friendly atmosphere in a small team environment where we can count on each other. Crew members will be responsible for various roles for harvesting and processing our premium roasting pigs. Starting wages depending on experience and education level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Slaughter, Harvest, Production
- Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
- Perform standard operating procedures of production and inspection functions as directed.
- Use equipment to harvest/slaughter pigs.
- Use hand tools and knives to properly harvest and trim pork carcasses.
- Ensure product conforms to specifications.
- Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
- Prevent and minimize rework and/or inedible.
- Successfully complete all necessary production and technical training and skills verification as directed.
- Making pallets by stacking boxes onto pallets, preparing the pallet with cardboard slip sheets, manually shrink wrapping, and pulling/pushing pallets with manual pallet jack.
- Work with production equipment including pallet jacks and other similar types of equipment
- Utilize ERP system to ensure accuracy of product, traceability of product, accuracy of inventory, accuracy of shipments, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Butchery Harvest Production Lead position is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily harvest and packaging of Roasting Pigs. The Lead will achieve the highest level of productivity, quality and yields while ensuring the safest working environment. This role will provide encouragement to team members in order to build the best team possible and provide training to all team members. The role works to ensure plant conditions are sufficient and sanitary in accordance with the USDA. Production activities will be monitored in accordance with plant policies, programs and standards concerning safety, quality, efficiency, and food safety.
The primary focus of the current opening is for our Pack-Off area. This area leads our pack off team to pack and label our roasting pigs. The lead also oversees the preparation of shipments to cold storage and to customers, working with our sales team and transportation partners to ensure accuracy and timely preparation and delivery of orders. The lead also serves to implement our ERP solution during the pack-off function, which requires some familiarity with computer software and effective communication with our production and sales teams. All leads at the Butchery will be cross trained to help in other areas. This role is specifically responsible for the pack-off function but must also be able to serve in other areas of the production process.
All leads for our harvest process report to our Butchery Plant Manager.
Our current opening is in our Butchery located in Sidney, Iowa. In this facility, we process whole roasting hogs that are distributed throughout the United States.
Key Duties for Butchery Harvest Lead:
Harvest/Production:
- Provide leadership to major daily production tasks including start-up to make sure equipment meets sanitary guidelines and is in proper operating condition and end of day processes
- Lead and follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
- Lead crew to ensure product conforms to specifications.
- Lead crew to ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
- Lead crew to prevent and minimize rework, discard and/or inedible.
- Perform standard operating procedures of production and inspection functions as directed.
- Provide leadership and expertise in slaughter, harvest, production, equipment to ensure the ability to direct employees to perform the job properly. (Less focus for Pack-off Lead)
- Ability to take on more complex areas of harvest/slaughter/production (less focus for Pack-Off Lead)
- Utilize ERP system to ensure accuracy of product, traceability of product, accuracy of inventory, accuracy of shipments, etc.
- Suggest changes in workflow processes and use of equipment to increase the efficiency to maintain the lowest level of downtime and production costs possible.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical/Associate degree in a related discipline
- Minimum of 6 months; preferred 12+ months of pork slaughter experience using packaging, forklifts, etc and also production tools and knives.

This position serves in an administrative capacity to support the management and operational team of the Smokehouse. This position will report to Shon Osborn, Senior Production Manager. This position will work to assist with human resources, purchasing, logistics, inventory control, time keeping, maintain filing systems, oversee shipping and delivery schedules, onboard new hires, phone support, and maintain a high level of organization at the facility. This position requires an energetic professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative and Clerical Support
- Review and edit approved timecards for Smokehouse facility and submit to payroll as needed
- Assist job seekers with initial steps of employee applications.
- Process onboarding and offboarding documents for new and terminated employees
- Process employee work comp claims.
- Support our team with periodic employee training as directed.

Position Overview
For over 40 years, WG Provisions has produced high-quality, fully cooked meats including roasting pigs, smoked brisket, pulled pork, and more for their customers. WG Provisions is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to help continue the care that is placed in their products every day.
The Quality Assurance Manager is directly responsible for the ongoing implementation and development of food safety and quality in our meat processing operations. The person in this role will also provide quality assurance mentoring to our Biomedical and Fulfillment teams.
As a key member of the operations management team, this person will work directly with government inspectors and production employees at our two processing facilities to ensure quality and food safety while maintaining a positive work environment. The Quality Assurance Manager oversees the HACCP plans, promotes approved processing procedures, and keeps accurate records. This position will verify and validate the food safety and quality assurance systems to ensure they are working properly while analyzing data to evaluate patterns and trends in results from quality testing. The Quality Assurance Manager will seek to improve operations by looking for efficiencies, processes, systems, and technology to improve WG Provisions’ products.
The position is based at our Smokehouse in Jewell, IA. You will also work at our Roasting Pig facility in Sidney, IA, and our headquarters in Ames, IA.
Responsibilities
- Sets quality standards and ensures that production is maintained at such standards via testing protocols
- Conducts and participates in initiatives to improve products and processes related to food quality, safety, and consistency through standard operating procedures (SOPs), sanitation standards (SSOPs), and good manufacturing practices (GMPs)
- Assists the Director of Operations in providing leadership to employees and participates/leads projects in conjunction with corporate QA/food safety management
- Oversees a network of procedures and documented processes beginning with receipt of raw products and packaging, through processing and distribution of finished goods
- Ensures manufactured products are safe, wholesome, and in full compliance with all applicable consumer and regulatory requirements.
- Serves as primary point person for USDA/FDA, etc.; understands and follows government requirements and regulations.
- Establishes relationships with direct reports and within all company departments to effectively cultivate a culture in which proper sanitation, food safety, food defense and quality goals are met.
- Prepares for internal and external food safety audits to ensure they are completed and successful. Ability to conduct internal audits at each location.

Schedule: Night shift, Monday - Friday, occasional Saturday
We are immediately seeking employees to join our Smokehouse Sanitation team in Jewell, Iowa. Our Smokehouse offers a family friendly atmosphere in a small team environment. Sanitation crew members are responsible for safely cleaning and sanitizing equipment and other basic cleaning. The primary focus of the Sanitation Crew Member will be on ensuring health safety and food safety on a daily basis.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We offer competitive compensation and benefits including dental, vision, health, paid holidays, vacation time, and a 401k program. Our starting wage is $16 per hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
General:

Sanitize warehouse equipment and machinery
-
Operate floor maintenance equipment and scrubbing machines nightly in scheduled areas

Maintain trash receptacles and perform general house cleaning
-
Monitor cleaning bushes and mops for proper sanitation
-
Sanitize production lines and fill out checklists
-
Use cleaning chemicals and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in a safe and proper manner, in accordance with company safety procedures.

General janitorial duties as needed
-
Maintain accurate and complete sanitation records.

Works scheduled shift as assigned.
-
Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to the lead/foreman/supervisor.

Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety

Suggest improvements; continuously improve the sanitation procedures
-
Perform all required duties within OSHA and company safety standards.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Preferred: Experience in sanitation. High school diploma or GED
