We are seeking a part time warehouse intern for Fall, and Spring 2025 at our fulfillment facility in Ames, Iowa. Our diverse business requires a quick-study, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in an interdisciplinary team. The intern will support our fulfillment team in the following areas: pulling, packing, and shipping orders; as well as continuous improvement and other related areas. The intern will work with our sales, operations, marketing, and management teams to support our meats operations.
Work schedule would be Monday/Tuesday from 8:00 AM -11:00AM, with occasional Thursday afternoon hours. Pay will be $17.00/hour. 7-10 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have at minimum completed their freshman year of study at Iowa State and has an interest in cooked meats production. Key majors are Ag Business, Animal Science, and Food Science. A passion for livestock and the meats industry is a plus.
Following a one-two week training period involving hands-on production experience, the intern will spend time in the major areas of the business including:

Position Overview
WG Provisions is looking for a Specialty and Smokehouse Sales Specialist to join our Meats sales team. Double smoked brisket, pulled pork, roasting pigs, rabbit, and duck are some of our small-batch & high-quality products. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment selling and developing relationships, this position is for you.
Our long-standing customer base is evidenced by our high touch, personable service. First and foremost, this is a sales and customer care position. In addition, skills in administration, organization, and communication with a passion for meat and agriculture define the fit for this role.
The role will include sales prospecting, sales presentations, ongoing customer management, order processing, logistics, and order delivery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
General:
- New Sales – Working with sales and marketing team, identifying prospects and working to build a customer relationship and close business partnerships.
- Existing Sales – Work with the sales and marketing team to expand sales to current customers, ensure exemplary service, and resolve any issues promptly.
- Logistics – interface with logistics team to ensure order delivery, notify customer of shipment, resolve carrier issues.
- Billing – preparing sales orders for invoicing, running weekly AR reports, assisting in collections process.
- Inventory – support questions related to inventory availability, identify potential issues with stock levels, etc.
- Broker Management – Server as liaison to sales and management team to manage and administer brokers.

- Meatbox Sales – primary coordinator of Meatbox orders, customer service, issue resolution, curbside orders, interface with fulfillment.
- Report Creation – lead sales team reporting process including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Forecast Creation – assist sales team with preparing sales forecasts for all Meats divisions (Rabbit, Pig, and BBQ).
- Vista Trac Super User – serve as a super user for our ERP solution, Vista Trac, ensuring accuracy of orders, inventory, data, and serve as a resource for inquiries related to processes within Vista Trac.
- Process Improvement – Assist the WG team with implementing new processes and technologies to further sales and customer service.

Position Overview
This role will serve as the lead in our developing and continuing relationships with our customers. The Customer Specialist is responsible for driving growth, quality, and abattoir & customer satisfaction in the Biomedical division. They serve a key role with our customers and abattoir through handling of communication, orders, invoices, contracts, audit schedules, etc. This position will work closely with our biomedical and administrative team. This position is based in Ames, Iowa with travel required. Travel is estimated at 25%.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
GENERAL:
- Interface and communicate with customers from startups to world renown medical companies.
- Ensure customer expectations are being met
- Ensure customer specifications, training records, and procedures are up to date, on file, and in compliance
- Review customer contracts for variation and expiration
- Plan annual or semi-annual discussions with customers regarding business needs pricing, and expectations
- Resolve quality, biling, contract, etc. issues and discrepancies

GENERAL:
- Maintain record retention in compliance with medical, business, harvest, FDA, and other regulatory requirements
- Ensure our ISO 9001 system is enforced, maintained, and in compliance
- Participate in ISO 9001 audits and responses to any audit recommendations
- Facilitate regulatory meetings between our customers and abattoir partners and assist in answering any regulatory questions.
- Fill in for the Abattoir and Tissue Specialist in the case of an absence due to vacation, work travel, emergency, etc.

We are immediately seeking employees to join our Smokehouse team in Jewell, Iowa. Our Smokehouse offers a family friendly atmosphere in a small team environment. Crew members will be responsible for various roles in seasoning and preparation, smoking/cooking, packaging and other tasks to make our fully cooked, heat-and-serve beef, pork and chicken products.

The Facility Maintenance Technician role keeps the plant facility and equipment running in a safe and efficient manner. This includes maintaining and repairing the building and equipment while adhering to company, USDA and food safety policies. This role will survey buildings and equipment to maintain proper operations and preventative maintenance programs to help drive operational growth and efficiency across the company. This individual will work hand in hand with the Production Support Manager and bring extensive knowledge of operating equipment, specifically for the meat industry, and maintenance of this equipment.
The Maintenance Technician position reports to the Production Support Manager. A maintenance technician resides in both our Smokehouse (Jewell, IA) and Butchery (Sidney, IA) facilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
General:
- Manage start-up to make sure equipment is in proper operating condition.
- Diagnose equipment defects and making necessary repairs.
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot machinery, ovens, processing equipment and facilities problems as needed for production issues and efficiency
- Safely operate various maintenance shop tools including welders, grinders, etc.
- Maintain all areas of the shop, production rooms and interior/exterior of the plant.
- Troubleshoot electrical functions (i.e., motors, controls, PLC function and basic wiring)
- Confer with management and suppliers to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.

Our Butchery offers a friendly atmosphere in a small team environment where we can count on each other. Crew members will be responsible for various roles for harvesting and processing our premium roasting pigs. Starting wages depending on experience and education level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Slaughter, Harvest, Production:
- Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
- Perform standard operating procedures of production and inspection functions as directed.
- Use equipment to harvest/slaughter pigs.
- Use hand tools and knives to properly harvest and trim pork carcasses.
- Ensure product conforms to specifications.
- Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
- Prevent and minimize rework and/or inedible.
- Successfully complete all necessary production and technical training and skills verification as directed.
- Making pallets by stacking boxes onto pallets, preparing the pallet with cardboard slip sheets, manually shrink wrapping, and pulling/pushing pallets with manual pallet jack.
- Work with production equipment including pallet jacks and other similar types of equipment
- Utilize ERP system to ensure accuracy of product, traceability of product, accuracy of inventory, accuracy of shipments, etc.
Attendance, Teamwork and Work Ethic
- Return from breaks in a timely manner; notify lead/supervisor before leaving the department.
- Attend all department and company scheduled meetings.
- Works scheduled shift as assigned.
- Request time off in advance when needed

- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to the lead/supervisor.
- Ensure safety devices are installed and working properly.
