We are immediately seeking employees to join our Smokehouse team in Jewell, Iowa. Our Smokehouse offers a family friendly atmosphere in a small team environment. Crew members will be responsible for various roles in seasoning and preparation, smoking/cooking, packaging and other tasks to make our fully cooked, heat-and-serve beef, pork and chicken products.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We offer competitive compensation and benefits including dental, vision, health, paid holidays, vacation time, and a 401k program. Our starting wage is $14 per hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
General:
- Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
- Ensure product conforms to specifications.
- Prevent and minimize rework and/or inedible.
- May require working on taping machines, shrink wrap machines, pallet jacks, trash and recycling compactors.
- Perform standard operating procedures of production and inspection functions as directed.
- Successfully complete all necessary technical training and skills verification as directed.
- Return from breaks in a timely manner; notify lead/foreman/supervisor before leaving the department.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork as directed.
- Attend all department and company scheduled meetings.
- Works scheduled shift as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to the lead/foreman/supervisor.

- Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
- Keep record of products used to follow FIFO (first in – first out)
- Add ingredients to batch and verify against formulations
- Move meat into machine(s) and/or combos and/or v-mags using appropriate tools and techniques
- Load meat racks, push meat trucks from one area to another, visually monitoring meat for quality.
- Maintain accurate records, washing and sanitizing carts, racks, and trucks.
- Count and place packages in appropriate caddies, maintaining accurate records, washing and sanitizing carts, racks, and trucks.
- Handling finished product, placing it continuously in trays or assembly lines to be shipped to our customers.
- Making pallets by stacking boxes onto pallets, preparing the pallet with cardboard wrapping, manually shrink wrapping, and pulling/pushing pallets with manual pallet jack.

This position is located at our Smokehouse in Jewell, Iowa. The Production Supervisor position is an essential contributor to our success in maintaining this reputation in the industry.
The position requires a team player who has a can-do attitude, works effectively with a team, follows through, and gets the job done. This role works in partnership with the Production Manager who has responsibility for the overall operations of the Smokehouse facility. The position requires working in an interdisciplinary team with a variety of tasks and challenges.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for maintaining high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping, and general line set-up and staffing.
This role will provide encouragement to team members in order to build the best team possible and provide training to all team members. The role works to ensure plant conditions are sufficient and sanitary in accordance with the USDA. Production activities will be monitored in accordance with plant policies, programs and standards concerning safety, quality, efficiency, and food safety. Specific responsibilities follow:
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Production Oversight & Effciency:
- Provide leadership to major daily production tasks including start-up.
- Assign responsibilities to team members as required to meet planned production schedules.
- Ensure every position is filled before the start-up of production line and coordinate job rotation to facilitate ergonomics
- Ensure team members are focused on tasks per schedule and working efficiently
- Lead crew to prevent and minimize rework, discard and/or inedible.
- Complete and ensure accurate and timely reporting of production data
- Ensure accurate rotation of inventory and proper coding of products.
- Keep management informed of the status of production and promptly notify management of issues impacting production
- Utilize ERP system to ensure accuracy of product, traceability of product, accuracy of inventory, accuracy of shipments, etc.
- Suggest changes in workflow processes and use of equipment to increase efficiency to maintain the lowest level of downtime and production costs possible.
- Actively promote adherence to plant Quality, Sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications.
- Ability to perform complex jobs and train others in proper procedures to meet customer expectations.
Quality & Food Safety:
- Ensuring all staff follow food safety and quality protocols
- Work with the quality department to ensure product safety and quality
- Actively support all company and facility quality standards

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required Education: Technical/Associate degree in related discipline.
Preferred: Previous Lead role in meat processing operation or related experience
Safety:
- Actively promote plant safety and environmental programs and procedures that follow plant and regulatory requirements.
- Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards: LOTO, wear PPE and maintain safety equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work areas
- Immediately report all accidents and injuries to Production Manager
- Promote safety daily as well as through monthly safety meetings
- Verify all employees are following safety guidelines and if not, take action to ensure safety protocols are followed
Facility & Equipment:
- Coordinate with maintenance department and Production Manager to manage equipment and facility
- Oversee staff to ensure facility/equipment is treated and used properly
- Recommend physical changes, improvements, and repairs to maintain or improve the condition of the plant or result in greater productivity, improved safety, etc.
Leadership:
